On December 7, 2018, at approximately 3:52 am, officers from the Beaumont Police Department responded to a business in the 500 block of Beaumont Avenue in reference to a hold-up alarm activation. Just prior to the officers’ arrival to the location, dispatchers advised patrol officers that the store clerk dialed 911 to report the business had just been robbed. The suspect described as a Hispanic female adult; entered the business, brandished a firearm and demanded the clerk turn over cash to the suspect. The suspect then exited the business to a waiting vehicle.
The female suspect fled the location in a light colored Chrysler 300. Officers were unable to locate the suspect(s) immediately after the incident.
On Saturday, December 8, 2018, at approximately 10:58 am, officers were conducting routine patrol in the area of First Street and Beaumont Avenue. The officer witnessed a vehicle matching the description of the one seen in surveillance footage from the December 7th, robbery. The officer initiated an investigative stop and detained the two occupants. During the stop the officer determined that the male driver was wanted for felony violation of Post Release Community Supervision. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a handgun, 1.8 grams of methamphetamine, various prescription narcotics and clothing belonging to the female that matched the clothing of the suspect from the December 7th, robbery.
Kristen Renee Schmitt, age 31, of Fort Mohave, AZ, was arrested for armed robbery and possession of narcotics. David Lyle Harrison III, age 28, of Whitewater was arrested for his felony warrant, as well as conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Schmitt and Harrison were booked at Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
