On Friday, October 6, 2017, at approximately 11:30am, Beaumont Police Department received a call from the 1500 block of 2nd Street Marketplace in reference to four individuals who had taken several hundred dollars in merchandise. Loss prevention staff at the business had attempted to detain the individuals, but were unsuccessful. Officers arrived at the location and witnessed three of the four subjects running across the I-10 freeway and were eventually reported to be in the area of Anna Hause Elementary school.
Officers located two of the suspects near the school and took them into custody, but continued to look for the other two suspects. The Beaumont Police Department set up a perimeter and requested the assistance of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department air ship and tracking K-9’s. Beaumont Police Department’s K-9 Mila and handler were also utilized during the search for the outstanding suspects; however officers were unable to locate the remaining suspects.
The two detained suspects were positively identified by a witness and arrested for grand theft. The suspects were identified as juveniles and were released to their parents pending charges of grand theft, which will be forwarded to juvenile probation.
