On Tuesday, May 8, 2018, the Beaumont Police Department responded to a call of suspicious circumstances in the area of Tartan Way and Hurstland Avenue in the City of Beaumont. A passerby reported seeing a male juvenile jumping over the fence into the backyard of a residence, as well as noticing a suspicious vehicle with someone waiting nearby.
Officers responded to the location and located two juveniles, officers detained the juveniles and found one to be in possession of cutting tools. While officers were questioning the juveniles, patrol did an area check and found a residence that was open and accessible. Upon conducting a safety check of the residence officers determined that it had been burglarized.
Upon further investigation a third juvenile was identified and contact was made with that subject. Officers went to the home of that juvenile and located property that was reported missing from the burglarized residence.
All three juveniles were placed under arrest and booked into Riverside County Juvenile Hall pending charges for residential burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary.
Due to the assistance of a concerned citizen, the Beaumont Police Department was able to arrest the individuals responsible for this burglary, as well as return all of the stolen property back to the owner. We appreciate the diligence of community members such as this and encourage all of our residents to report suspicious activity to our non-emergency line at 951-769-8500.
