Since many people are being asked to stay at home, please only get the supplies you and your family need. We are performing extra patrols of grocery stores and other impacted retail locations. Everyone’s safety is our top priority and we will be enforcing the law as intended.
Many information only reports can be made online with no waiting. A free copy of the report can be printed at the time the report is made. These reports include, but are not limited to: custody order violations, theft, harassing communications, non-injury traffic collisions, lost property and vandalism reports. Complete instructions can be found at beaumontpd.org/online-reporting.
Our Dispatch Center is asking more questions to collect a wider range of information from callers to better prepare officers who are responding to calls. This is being done so officers can take more proactive steps; it will not affect officers’ response to calls for service. Officers may ask community members to meet them outside of homes and businesses where appropriate in order to practice social distancing. Officers have also been issued personal protective equipment, and may be seen wearing gloves, face masks, protective eyewear or other protective clothing.
We have temporarily closed our lobby and suspended agency tours, ride-along programs and livescan services. We are regularly sanitizing our facilities and our vehicles in an attempt to keep our employees and citizens safe.
On behalf of the men and women of the Beaumont Police Department, we want to reassure you that public safety is our number one priority. The Beaumont Police Department continues to work with our local, state and federal partners to provide the best possible service and response to our community. We ask that the public remains patient with us and each other as we work through the challenges we are being faced with.
We will continue to be a 24-hour, full-service police department. Our quality of service and professionalism will continue at the highest level, and only the manner in which we conduct business will change temporarily as we utilize social distancing to slow the spread of COVID-19. We are committed to protecting the health and well-being of the public and our officers by taking every possible step to ensure we are not unknowingly spreading the virus to vulnerable populations by the very nature of our job.
