Beaumont, CA – On Sunday, January 20, 2019, at approximately 10:26 pm, the Beaumont Police Department received a call from a concerned citizen who witnessed a subject driving erratically in the 1200 block of E. 6th Street.

Officers arrived at the location and witnessed the driver of the vehicle making unsafe lane changes similar to what was described by the reporting party. The officer initiated an investigative stop, but the driver failed to yield and continued westbound on SR 60.

The driver made an erratic, evasive move east of Jack Rabbit Trail, resulting in a traffic collision where the driver sustained major injuries and subsequently died at the hospital. This case is still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Any further information regarding this case should be referred to CHP.
