On Monday, April 8, 2019, at approximately 5:00 pm, the Beaumont Police Department received a call from a passerby who heard some type of explosion and witnessed a male subject who appeared injured, run from a residence to a nearby vehicle.

Officers responded to the area of 3rd Street and Grace Avenue, but were unable to locate an obvious explosion site, nor any victims or witnesses. Shortly after officers arrived to the location, Banning Police Department contacted Beaumont Dispatchers to inform officers of a call received from San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital. The hospital had contacted them in reference to two victims who checked themselves into the ER with severe burns.

Officers from the Beaumont Police Department responded to the hospital and confirmed the victims were associated with the explosion that occurred at a home in the 300 block of Grace Avenue. Officers located the residence and conducted a safety sweep of the property to determine if there were additional victims.

During the safety sweep officers located the remnants of a marijuana cultivation site and a butane honey oil extraction lab in an outbuilding on the property. Members of the Beaumont Multiple Enforcement Team and Detective Bureau were called out to handle the investigation.

At this time no arrests have been made and this case is still under investigation. Anyone with information about this case can contact Sergeant Wann of the Multiple Enforcement Team at 951-769-8500.
