On Tuesday, May 14, 2019, the Beaumont Police Department was called to Mountain View Middle School to evaluate a student who was reportedly going to harm herself. Another student had come forward and provided information to the school’s administration.

It was during this evaluation that the School Resource Officer (SRO) learned of potential threats to the school. As a result, the SRO conducted the Student Threat Assessment and Response (STAR) protocol at the student’s home. At this time the Beaumont Police Department does not have reason to believe that the student had the means to carry out these threats; however, this report is still under investigation.

This report is an excellent example of “See Something, Say Something.” We would like to reaffirm to our community that we take these reports seriously and we appreciate those students and community members who come forward and report information such as this. We encourage our school community and others to report suspicious activity or school threat information directly to the School Resource Officer, District personnel and/or directly to the Beaumont Police Department.

Parents and students can expect to see more police officers in the area of the middle schools to reassure parents of our commitment to student safety. If anyone has any additional information about this report, please contact the Beaumont Police Department at 951-769-8500. Information can also be reported anonymously at crimetips@beaumontpd.org.
