On Tuesday, 09/05/17, at approximately 12:23am an Officer from the Beaumont Police Department was conducting patrol in the Tournament Hills area, when he observed a vehicle that the officer recognized as having been associated with a suspect who was wanted for kidnapping and domestic battery from the week prior. The Officer attempted to make a traffic stop, but the suspect failed to yield and engaged officers in a vehicle pursuit.
The suspect fled Westbound on the 60 Freeway, where officers requested assistance from California Highway Patrol and Riverside County Sheriff Department, to conduct a felony traffic stop. Officers from all agencies pursued the suspect to the unincorporated county area of Nuevo, where a spike strip was deployed and disabled the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect initially resisted arrest; however, officers arrested him without further incident.
The suspect is identified as Robert Pina, 28 YOA, from Beaumont. PINA was transported to Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, where he was booked on felony evading a police officer and a warrant for felony assault and battery, as well as facing charges for kidnapping and domestic battery that had occurred on August 25, 2017.
